The Greener Diamond - Get Involved

Let's focus our attention on the many wonderful foundations that are already doing fantastic work in the world. It is so easy and inexpensive to provide food, shelter, medical care, and a loving family to thousands of children. There are many ways to get involved - you CAN make a difference.

 

Your decisions do make a difference. *The USA accounts for 50% of global diamond jewelry sales.
Approximately 70% of women in the USA own an earth-mined diamond, do you?

That means nearly 1,500,000 people own at least one earth-mined diamond in the USA.
So the greatest achievement would be for 1,500,000 American diamond consumers to act!

 

Here are a few ideas to get involved:

  • Be an educated consumer - know what you are buying and where it comes from, insist on verification and/or third party references. Look for conflict free alternatives and support companies that give back to a cause you believe in.
  • Pass it on - Read this website and do your own research - please tell other people what you have learnt!
  • Sponsor a child in Africa. Quite possibly the easiest and quickest, yet most impactful thing you can do.
  • Put your wedding registry at Youth Action International. Invite your guests to buy a water pump or school supplies etc.

YOUTH ACTION INTERNATIONAL:

Have you ever thought of getting your wedding guests to purchase a water pump or school supplies etc as your wedding present? You can put your "gift register" for a wedding or even a birthday at Youth Action International.
For example:
$40 provides emergency medical care for a child in Uganda
$100 buys uniforms and materials for a child for one year
$250 provides a one-year scholarship for one girl
$500 enrolls a women in a rehabilitation center

$1,000 pays a teacher for one year
$2,500 supports agricultural training for former child soldiers and children orphaned by war
$3,000 supports a counseling program for children affected by war
